How to Balance Your Job While Investing in Future?

Almost every middle man has a few dreams and wishes which he or she wants to fulfill. For this, they think about investing their money or time into something which may return them enough in the future so they can achieve their goals. The ones who take initiative, are faced with one question, “How to Balance Your Job While Investing?”.

So, in today’s guide, we will find how we can invest in the future while carrying a full-time job. But before that, let’s find out why it is even important to invest?

How we can invest?

There can be no denying the fact that apart from doing a full-time job, taking on a side hustle has become inevitable today – especially in the developed world.

A report by Bankrate Survey, conducted on 2,550 adults in June 2019, suggests that 45% of working Americans report having a side hustle, besides their full-time jobs. From which, 30% say they have taken on the extra work to help pay for their day-to-day living expenses.

Nonetheless, it is true that in many fields, especially in the corporate sector, employees do not get enough chance of the side hustle. Even if they do it, they face the blame of cutting hours from the job.

For instance, many owners do not allow their workers to keep their mobile with themselves during the job, and workers are not allowed to even see their phones for two minutes. Maintaining a side hustle for them becomes a tantalizing mystery.

In addition to this, those who can do it and try to balance both – side hustle and a full-time job – often become vulnerable to a state of physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion due to prolonged and unabated work hours.

Moreover, often the company or the place where you work does not allow you to do the side hustle, either due to the tough schedule or complaints of cutting hours. Resultantly, many prefer to desert their side hustle and continue their full-time job.

How to balance your job while investing?

I was on the same boat until I listened to Gary Vaynerchuk’s podcast on the topic of “How to balance your job while investing in your future”. Gary holds a different opinion when it comes to work-life balance.

His main theme for this subject is to ‘get out of the self-imposed jails’. That is, we often fall prey to the illusion that we will not get a better job if we leave our current one; hence, continue with the current job no matter how onerous and unproductive it is. While doing so, we even leave the idea of investing in the future or side hustle as well. As a company can sack you from the job at any moment, this approach becomes penny-wise and pound-foolish.

Gary, however, advocates seeking a new job as there are owners who do not inflict restrictions and allow more freedom to their workers. Their only concern is results and meeting the expectations of the client. If that is the case, the worker can enjoy more freedom of whatever he wants to do.

Gary stresses finding these types of jobs where one is not confined and can invest in his side business and hobbies as well.

Balance Your Job

However, a situation may arise when an individual does not want to leave his job. These types of people are either those who fear the change the most and want to live in their safer self-imposed jails or they find their job more rewarding. For this type of person, who does not want to leave their job and explore new avenues, Garry suggests a complete refrain from a side business.

The idea of side hustle may sound exciting at the start, but it too requires extensive work and sacrifice. With that, if you are working in a hard role in your full-time job, then the probability is you will end up being burned out. Like, working 9 to 5 in your office and then at home, instead of enjoying Netflix you again have to work.

With less time to relax and burdened by the workload, you might end losing both. So, it is wise to decide whether you want it or not.

For this, Gary devises a binary framework that can make things simple and decisive. Either leave your laborious job and find out a new job where you can get more time for your side hustle or desert the idea of side hustle completely and continue with your full-time job.

Do not do a laborious job and side hustle at the same time, you will end up achieving nothing. This is as simple as that if you want to balance your job while investing in your future, then you must find a more flexible and productive job and not the traditional 9 to 5 job.
